Grace Episcopal Church is a part of the Diocese of Eau Claire and is governed by The Constitution and Canons of the diocese, as well as the Constitution and Canons of the
Episcopal Church in the United States of
America.
The Rt. Rev. Keith B. Whitmore is our Bishop and his office is located at The Wilson Building, 510 S.
Farwell, in Eau Claire. Our diocese includes 24 counties in northwestern Wisconsin.
The Diocese's legislative body is the annual diocesan convention, held each fall. The Bishop of Eau Claire is the President of the Convention, which is comprised of two orders of delegates. The lay order consists of delegates from each congregation, and the clerical order includes all priests and deacons canonically resident in the diocese. Diocesan Convention delegates elect persons to serve on the Diocesan Executive Council, Standing Committee, Commission on Ministry, and many other areas of service within the diocese.
The National Church's legislative body is the General Convention, held every three years. General Convention is comprised of two houses: The House of Bishops, including all Bishops in the Episcopal Church; and the House of Deputies, which includes four lay deputies and four clergy deputies from each diocese in the Episcopal Church. General Convention elects persons to serve on the Executive Council, which governs the Church between conventions.
